On open letter to "We The People"
Dear We the People,
On April 30th, 100 days into Trump’s Presidency, the Democrats through Kamala Harris had this to say of Trump’s actions around ignoring Congress and the Courts (the other two branches of government):
“That is a crisis that will eventually impact everyone, because it would mean that the rules that protect our fundamental rights and freedoms, that ensure each of us has a say in how our government works, will no longer matter.” (NYTimes)
What world are the Democrats living in where people will “eventually” be impacted? I’m impacted now. Our planet is impacted now. Our sold-off Federal lands, our pilfered social security, our tariffs are impacting all of us, now.
Even the Democrats through Harris acknowledge the crisis is here; yet, the Democrats’ solution is to follow the very rulebook Trump just threw out. More congressional acts. More court filings. More paper tiger “filibusters.” This is either ignorance or by design.
I’d say it’s by design. Democrats through Harris are afraid of the real solution; one that would highlight Democrats’ own culpability and even support of Republicans’ agenda through Trump.
They show their culpability when they purchase stocks on a constructed dip, right before the constructed rise. They do this when they vote “no” on one of Trumps pieces of legislations, then dine with Republicans and lobbyists who support that legislation. They do this when they pass Republicans’ budget. They do this when they visit the Oval Office and appear on stage with the President. They do this when they go home and cash their tax-payer funded paychecks, then write blogs and op-eds about federal employees losing their jobs. They do this when they are also caught embezzling or engaging in sexual misconduct, and rely on Republican precedents or pardons to get out of dodge.
The real solution is to play by the same rulebook as our opponent. In this case, checks and balances have been tossed out, as has the rule of law. There is no rule of law. Republicans may claim they are enforcing the “true” laws, but when they ignore the Supreme Court and congressional checks while firing auditors and independent reviewers, the Constitution is dead and their “laws” are nothing but words backed by violence.
Especially as top Democrats refuse to impeach Trump, elected officials–I’m looking at you, Democrats–should be getting arrested for their pushback against Republicans. Democrats should take a lesson from Judge Hannah Dugan. We need heroes, not politicians who scream “the sky is falling” when talking to us, then proceed to quietly “oppose” Trump when they’re sitting on Capitol Hill.
I’m not alone in feeling this way. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution had this headline today: “AJC poll: Democratic support plummets in Georgia as base demands more fight;” though, today my own former governor, Inslee, published a piece in the Wall Street Journal believing Democrats can actually win over Trump voters—does Inslee realize Democrats are losing their own voters!
We haven’t forgotten what the Democrats did to Bernie Sanders in 2016. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz managed to get elected to the House, but most Democrats have not forgotten the Democrat-rigged Primary race of 2016. Bernie and AOC are doing such a good job this time around, even Republicans are calling on Democrats to reign them in. And Democrats will. That said, I’d like to see both Bernie and AOC move even further left and leave the Democrats. Frankly, they don’t have my endorsement, either, and I’m not waiting for Democrats to change.
On this May Day, it’s clear to me that it’s up to “We The People” to manage this Constitutional crisis. And, when we do, let’s remember every single Democrat who failed to stick their neck out. Let’s never elect them again, and instead elect our people; folks who put people and planet over profit.

My Issue with ActBlue
Yesterday, I was joking with a friend about the political text messages we receive. Like me, she has third party affiliations, and receives text messages from both Republicans and Democrats. What exactly are Bernie and AOC doing besides lying? It comes out the Biden never once asked Netanyahu for a ceasefire, but AOC and Bernie said they were. AOC and Bernie said we should vote for a war criminal in Harris. Bernie has anti-genocide protesters, forcibly removed from his BS rallies. They are the same as all of the democrats, because the Democratic Party is a tool of the empire. The two parties serve the empire and its oligarch masters. They will never change, because they can’t change. Bernie and AOC are paid liars, trying to pull real progressives back into the right wing Democratic Party. People can’t keep falling for the same BS, every fucking time.
